DnD Online — the Dungeon Master is always ready to run the game
To play a tabletop RPG, you need a DM, a group, and an evening when everyone is free. In LitRPG, the Dungeon Master is an artificial intelligence. It runs your party anytime, rolls dice, calculates damage, and remembers what you did last time. This is not official Dungeons & Dragons, but a game of its own, yet everything people love about TRPGs is here.
What it shares with tabletop RPGs
- Character sheet — Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, Intelligence, Wisdom, Charisma. You assign points yourself when creating a hero.
- Race and class — human, elf, dwarf, orc, half-breed; warrior, ranger, mage, rogue, cleric. Your choice affects bonuses and playstyle.
- Dice rolls — when the outcome is uncertain, the System rolls a d20 with a stat modifier. Equipped items give bonuses to rolls.
- Experience and levels — for battles, quests, and discoveries. With each level, powers grow, and every other level grants a skill point.
- Loot — weapons, armor, and amulets of varying rarity, each with its own stats.
- Freedom of action — the DM allows anything that makes sense for the world. You don't have to choose from three buttons.
How the AI runs the game
You describe an action — 'I press against the wall and peek around the corner of the cave.' The DM decides if a roll is needed, rolls, and describes the result — what you saw and whether you were noticed. NPCs speak in their own voices, with motives and memory.
The DM keeps things fair. It won't give gold that isn't there, won't forget a wound, and won't let you into a locked tower without a key. Rewards are granted only by the server, not the narrator, so you can't cheat — just like at a good table.
Combat — from duels to squad battles
One-on-one, the hero fights turn-based — you see the enemy's health, with attack, defense, class techniques, and an attempt to flee by roll. If the hero has their own fighters, the battle unfolds on a grid, like in 'Heroes of Might and Magic.' Squads stand in stacks, act by initiative, strike, shoot, and lose morale.
The field is assembled based on circumstances — forest road, mountain pass, swamp, ruins, or storming a wall with gates. Blue camp on the left, red on the right. Fighters are hired in the capital from the marshal — guards, militia, spearmen, archers, shield-bearers, and horsemen.
Dungeons, dragons, and secrets
The island has many caves, ruins, barrows, and old towers. Each has its own story, danger, and loot. There are authored plots with mysteries, and rumors about dragons that not everyone thinks are fairy tales. Places discovered by heroes can be viewed on the world page.
Party and playing with friends
Your party is you and your fighters, but you can also play with real people. Invite friends, gather in one location, and team up. The DM will lead everyone. And in the Blood Pit and at the Royal Tournament, you can test your strength against other heroes.
To prepare for your first game, the character sheet generator will help — it will create a biography, personality, and goal for your hero.
Questions and answers
Is this official D&D?
No. It's a standalone roleplaying game with similar principles — stats, rolls, classes, and a DM. The name Dungeons & Dragons belongs to its copyright holder.
Do I need to know TRPG rules?
No. The system calculates everything itself, and you just write what your hero does.
Can I play without a group?
Yes, the DM can run a single player. You can hire a squad in-game or gather friends.
Where to play — do I need Roll20 or Discord?
Nothing is needed. The game runs in your browser on phone or computer.
