Royal patrols have taken to the roads

Road safety is now everyone's concern. The king's army is split into small patrols of 5–10 fighters who walk the highways, villages, and bridges around the clock — you can spot them on the map by the 💂 icon. Where a patrol has passed within the last day, sleeping under the open sky is safer; where it hasn't been for three days, bandits grow bold, and nearby lairs raise the risk. Patrols die too — the Chronicle reports every wiped-out squad, and those days it's dangerous there. During a war, half the patrols leave the roads. A hero with an army can leave some fighters to guard the place where they stand. Fighters are paid wages every day, travelers pay a toll, and camping nearby is safer for everyone. The risk of sleeping away from home runs from 5% to 45%, every location on the map has a colored ring, and the location card explains why.
click a location on the map — you'll see the camping risk, the last patrol, and whose retinue guards the road. You can station your own fighters in the «Army» section.
